True Love is the Greatest Adventure

PART IV


It is crazy but exciting to think that after all of the ups and downs we have been through, we would be at this point in our lives.

Finally, we're getting married!


Well I guess you pretty much assumed correct of the end result since the last story! We have worked really hard to get us to get back to how things were like in Panama and relationships are no walk in a park. 😆 

Much of the beginning of 2018 was like going on as many "50 First Dates" as we could. 


Although many have said that we would never make it this far; Javier was crazy to come half way across the world; and even our countries denying us visas to be together, this journey that our love has taken us on has been one of the greatest adventures that I would relive over and over again.

Sometimes you wonder why do events happen in your life and the path you thought you would take actually ends up changing. In my opinion, that is what makes life a little more interesting.


Since our engagement had been put on hold for about a year, Javier and I had confirmed that we still wanted to marry each other while on a trip in Malaysia! It was during our anniversary in April 2018. 

I knew I would go back to the states for my friend and youngest sister's graduation. So, I asked my sister to help organize a surprise engagement party! I was excited and nervous to tell family and friends since some were skeptical of us and our future when we first started out. 

My plan was while I was back to celebrate my sister's college graduation, we would do a surprise engagement party. 


The best part of the Sunday luncheon was when our efforts had been recognized by family and friends because they welcomed Javier into the family as my future husband with open arms! They were accepting of our relationship and cried for joy when I announced to them that we were engaged. 

It was such a happy moment that my mom could not stop smiling for one second!

This past week, while walking around in the community, I meet some people from the Embera indigenous community, which is about 2 hours hike or an hour boat ride from where I live. A Living Guide, When in Beijing

Are you deciding to move to Beiijing, China?! STAY OPEN MINDED Have you ever thought people would eat roaches off a stick? How about scorpions or grass hoppers? For me, China has been the most unique place I have traveled to so far. But, being open to the experience and maintaining a worldly perspective have helped me to adapt to the cultural differences that I have encountered. LEAVE BEIJING FOR THE HOLIDAYS While I really wanted to see the holiday parades and some tourist sites over the long holidays, they actually turned out to be the worst times to go see any tourist attractions in Beijing! The Truth About Teaching English in China

I decided to go to China through a teaching English program and had the opportunity to test out multiple types of schools that revealed positives and negatives when working with schools directly, being managed by a placement agency, and choosing between an international or national Chinese program. I hope to share with you all some of my observations and experiences shared with me about working as an English teacher in China before making that big move! _________________________________________________________________________________ CHINESE AGENCY Not a bad option if you are a first timer in China and a great way to get started when you do not know the culture, language, etc. My suggestion is do at least a 6 month contract with an agency so you can transition well into China.
