My Health Secrets
My secrets to a healthy body and mind are:
1) Exercise
I like to mix up my routine where I do some circuit training, running, and yoga. Though my favorite exercise that I always come back to when I want to tighten, lift, and look leaner is Pilates. When I took Pilates in college, it was an effective method that made me look leaner after playing volleyball for so many years and my thighs were a lot bulkier then. Also, mixing in more running helped too to trim myself and feel in shape!
2) Diet
It has been about 4-5 years since I decided to become a vegan. I wanted to live healthier and from my experience, it has taught me the need to consume more veggies and fruits! Also, I have found a new interest in cooking foods due to the creativity of combining different spices, etc and of course, home-cooked meals are so much yummier.
I am considering incorporating eggs and fish into my diet but I eat mainly vegan most days! I'm not saying to anyone to stop eating meat because being vegan to me also means being more aware of your food comes from. Reading the ingredients label and sticking to more natural items are the most important things to do as a vegan! Also, keeping in mind portion sizes has helped me to maintain a healthy figure. I believe these are some of the key things in maintaining a healthy self!
3) Be More Social but, Face-to-Face
I know we all love social media but I believe to live healthier is to socialize with people in person rather than online. Having human interaction is much more lasting on ones mood than over the internet and to build connections with others. Let's not live through our phones because there is such a big world out there with amazing people and places to see!
4) Less time in the Mirror
Okay, so you are probably like, how am I going to look good if I don't know what I look like?? Well, being in a place for years without much access to a mirror each day, I think it helps a person to focus on themselves and how they really feel on the inside. For me, feeling awesome on the inside first will radiate through your body. Though, you need to listen to the body on the inside rather than always looking at your appearance in the mirror, which is superficial and create a false sense of self.7
5) Positive Self talk
Living healthier means eliminating negative thinking and focusing on the positive. More importantly, speaking positive things to yourself. For me, I feel more confidence and usually they say that you are your own worst enemy or your best cheerleader. It's a way to love yourself and build your self-esteem to know that in life, you can be or do anything you want as long as you believe in yourself and focus on the positive aspects of life!
